Local Food Adventure Show Kicks off Epic Around the World Second Season on Oahu
The local food/travel adventure series The Culinary Edge TV will be kicking off its second season on Oahu - and then a trip around the island for some unique culinary delights.
The show is hosted by Chef Ellard Resignato, a former cubicle worker turned food adventurer. Three years ago Ellard found himself stagnant in his job, “I quit my job and found myself on a flight to Bali and on the cover of the in-flight magazine was a picture of Anthony Bourdain. I thought to myself, ‘I want his job’ so I started my own cooking show. It started out as a spotlight on the amazing cooking adventures that I’ve experienced with my friends and family. And its grown from there.”
Season 1 features location on the Big Island, San Francisco, Alaska, and Florida among others; and features back yard food excursions. “One of the best ways to understand other cultures is through their food,” said Ellard. “Our intention is to spotlight the interesting cooking that people are doing in un-discovered settings.“ I also like featuring people who grow and harvest their own food”
For season two, Ellard is bringing Bailey Ferguson - a former Miss Nebraska turned artist - to co-host and help produce this ultimate journey.
The Culinary Edge TV itinerary includes: Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Sri Lanka, India, Eastern Europe, Italy and will conclude back in Hawaii.
Some of the highlights planned so far: shark dive on Oahu and malasadas at Leonard’s, the oldest fish market (Tsukiji) and a ramen tour in Tokyo, mandarin orange harvesting on Nakajima Island Japan, street food in Southeast Asia, floating market in Kep; Cambodia; cooking class in Kerala, India; surfing and fishing in Sri Lanka; dropping in on Ellard’s Italian relatives in a small village outside of Torino, Italy and many more improvised food and travel adventures.
“If you are interested in unique and undiscovered food happenings from around the globe and some good stories you should tune in. It's going to be a wild ride.” said Ellard.
The Culinary Edge TV is on YouTube as well as NĀ LEO`O HAWAIʻI BIG ISLAND COMMUNITY ACCESS TELEVISION CHANNEL 54 AND CHANNEL 29 IN SAN FRANCISCO.
