Come stay on the Red Road in the Lower Puna District of Hawai'i Island, one of the most unique regions in Hawai'i.
I built this property myself and tried to include the aesthetics that I appreciate with wood and metal and less plastic. The property has two small bedroom cabins, one with a queen bed and one with a full bed. There's a full outdoor kitchen with a propane stove and grill. The property is on solar and has a small refrigerator, microwave, and hot outdoor shower. There's a composting toilet and it often feels a lot like very comfortable glamping. It is really designed to enjoy outdoors and to let the beauty of Hawai'i sink in. It's on a safe, dead end street with friendly neighbors in a unique development called Kalapana Seaview Estates.
Due to our location on the Kilauea Volcano large scale resorts can't build here. That makes this unique part of Hawai'i entirely non-commercial except for local shops and vendors. It keeps it relatively undeveloped and closer to nature than many parts of Hawai'i. The people here understand all this and that is why we choose to live here. The property is a 1.5 mile walk to the beach (Kehena Black Sands Beach) and easy access to many great places along the Red Road. And you can often hear the gentle sounds of the ocean at night.
